Mike has lived in Pembury for the past twelve years. When his wife died five years ago he went to live with his daughter but felt that he could not stay with her forever and decided to look for a care home. He was well acquainted with Cornford House as his sister had been a resident here. In making his choice of home he said that not only was the home local to where he lived but also that the Cornford House building itself was very good and the home was spotlessly clean.
On living at Cornford House Mike said that he enjoyed the company of good fellow residents and that he was very well looked after. Above all he considered the management of the home to be excellent. He said he enjoyed the meals and liked the fact that the weekly menu was on display in the lounge. Mike does join in with many of the activities at the home but enjoys his own company. He receives a daily newspaper and is considering changing his paper to The Times as his usual one is not as good as it used to be. He enjoys outings from the home with his family.
