Cornford House has been a home for older people for over 50 years and now provides full nursing care under the supervision of Registered Nurses. The home is keen to respect residents’ privacy, rights, independence and freedom of choice as far as possible, taking into account their individual ability levels. It operates an “open door” policy whereby relatives and friends are welcome to visit at any time. Residents may choose to spend time in the privacy of their own room or in the lounges. Meals are normally taken in the spacious dining rooms but residents may choose to have their meal served in their room.
The home has friendly, dedicated staff, supervised by a Registered Nurse 24 hours a day. They are all direct employees, thus ensuring continuity of care and facilitating a family atmosphere. There is a comprehensive training programme and a high proportion of staff have achieved NVQ qualifications. There are regular visits from local GPs. There is a full programme of activities on offer and hairdressing and chiropody services are readily available.
We are required by Regulation to provide a Statement of Purpose.
This will tell you all about the home, our aims and objectives together with philosophy of care. It includes a description of the services and facilities on offer at the home.
