Our dementia care unit offers eighteen places for residents with dementia type illnesses. It is located on the second floor of Cornford House. There are two lounges and a dining room. All bedrooms have their own en-suite shower rooms. A safe environment is provided with key padded doors for security.
Our principal aim is to provide a home with a real family atmosphere for all our residents coupled with respect for their privacy, individual rights, independence and freedom of choice. The home is managed by a Registered Nurse with a postgraduate certificate in Dementia Studies. All staff undergo specialist training in order to provide sensitive and appropriate care.
To ensure that the home can offer appropriate care and attention a pre-admission assessment is carried out leading to a written proposal as to how the home would meet those needs to assist in the decision making.
A wide range of activities is on offer with an emphasis on one to one attention. Each resident has an individual care plan where hobbies and interests are recorded. This enables care staff to engage residents in activities which are highly personalized.
Our terms and conditions are contained in the Residents' Handbook, which we have endeavoured to make as clear and easy to read as we can. The Admission Agreement confirming acceptance of these terms and conditions needs to be signed before moving in to the home.
