The suites offer residents nursing care in their own homes on the ground floor and first floors of Cornford House. Each suite has its own front door with a letterbox and residents exercise complete control on who may enter their property. There is a choice of studio or one bedroom suites all with en-suite shower rooms. They all benefit from the secure entrance to the building.

The suites are open to all those with on-going physical care needs with the aim of being a home for life through the provision of on-site nursing care. (They are not for people with dementia but we have a specialist dementia nursing unit on the second floor of the building). Residents of the suites have their own lounge/dining room and they are encouraged to take part in the internal activities programme and to integrate into the Cornford House community as much as possible. However, they have complete choice over which activities they wish to join. Also, they can have their meals served in their suites or they can enjoy the company of the other residents in their communal dining room.
Residents can rent or buy their nursing suites. For those who decide to buy, the on-going costs of care and support are about a third lower than traditional nursing home fees and there is a "buy back" agreement when they leave. A service charge takes care of bills such as gas electricity and property maintenance. All food is included as is personal laundry and cleaning of the suite.
The costs of both renting and buying are outlined in the following document.

Cornford House is registered as a Domiciliary Care Agency and a Nurses Agency in order to provide both personal and nursing care to the residents of the suites. The in-house team of registered nurses and carers is available 24 hours a day to respond to the residents' care needs when required. With Registered Nurses available on-site, the suites can accommodate residents as their care needs develop without them ever having to move to a traditional nursing home. However, as the suites are the residents' own homes, they can also choose to buy their care from any provider registered with the Care Quality Commission.
For residents who chose to buy their personal and/or nursing care from Cornford House, the standard agreement is in the following document.
